The Linguistics Department at Ohio University is hiring a Lecturer who can serve as coordinator as well as instructor for our Arabic Language program. The position will require teaching two to three Arabic language courses per semester at beginning through advanced levels, organizing extra-curricular cultural functions, and training teaching assistants. The individual in this position is expected to exercise full collaboration with the faculty of the Department of Linguistics.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in applied linguistics, Arabic language pedagogy, second language acquisition, or other field relevant to Arabic instruction; possess native or near native knowledge of Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and speak a mainstream dialect such as Saudi Arabian, Jordanian, or Egyptian Arabic (other dialects of Arabic not mentioned may also qualify).Minimum two years’ experience teaching MSA at the university level in the US. Minimum one year experience supervising TAs Evidence of successful, dynamic and effective language teaching is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should present a strong commitment to assist with the development of the Arabic Language Program. Knowledge and experience teaching beginning to advanced Arabic language courses, experience directing an Arabic Language Program, and directing an Arabic language study abroad program would also be highly desirable.
